Galaxy S7 Review - A Worthy Successor and Predecessor?

Whilst the Galaxy S7 may have been overcome by the new almost bezel-less Galaxy S8, it is still considered one of the main flagships of 2017 at the moment. With the rumored Note 8 slated to be unveiled on the 25th of September, is the S7 still a good pick, especially with its price drop?

Design

The S6's design has been altered very little to form the S7. It keeps the same glass-sandwich design from the last generation yet bringing with it some welcomed changes. For starters, the camera bump on the center back has been reduced which means no more rocking on the table.

Whilst the S7's design looks absolutely gorgeous (may I add one of the best looking Android smartphones), it does bring with it some drawbacks. With regular use, you will find yourself wiping off the smudge and fingerprint marks multiple times a day however the introduction of Gorilla Glass 4 ad its oleophobic coating meaning that cleaning it should be a breeze. The S7's display now comes with Samsung's always-on capability. Unlike Motorola’s version, Samsung’s is switched on permanently, and you get a choice of what style of always-on screen is shown. There are seven different basic clock and notification views, ranging from basic digital displays to twin, world clock views.

Final Word

Overall, the Galaxy S7 is a well rounded device and now that the S8 has been unveiled, the S7 is sure to drop in price opening up its availability to many more as it continues to get cheaper.
